INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATIONS?

INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATIONS?

A Poem by Jvl narasimharao
"

Please don't think that I am not an Indian and not a patriot. But I speak the truth.I will read all your poems and only then will I write another poem of mine.I will keep my promise

"

I un-necessarily  hated the British.

Because, I thought, they looted Indian treasure,

Beyond  any historical measure.

But, was not their administration a great pleasure?

They followed their queen.

Their character was so clean.

They loved their mother.

Other things they did not bother.

Did they not construct dams,

Railways and beautiful mansions?

Did they ever succumb to bribes?

Did they not give us statute books?

What about their English language?

Does it not help us in this modern age?

Oh1 Mahatma, Seeta Rama Raju and Bhagat singh!

Why did you sacrifice your precious lives for your mother’s suffering?

Did you think Indians were really honest

And work for their mother without any rest?

They looted her mother more than the British

They preserved  the property safely in Swiss.

Even the Prime Minister is not free from corruption

Brother Hazarre is the real volcanic eruption.

How can we celebrate Independence day

When the British were least corrupted in their own way?

I'm torn between agreeing with you and not...

indeed the British did bring some positive aspects of colonization to the plate but they did their colonies irreparable harm too. I believe that there is alot to be learned from the British and their methods of administration, so we should borrow the positive and shun the negative.

Corruption and bribery begins with one man. The common man. And change begins with the same man. My opinion.
I think you've captured this well.

I do not know much about the history or even the current of India. But I always enjoy reading and learning. I have been looking into Egypt (Cairo) to be exact and now my next Im thinking shall be India. I know I shall never travel to some of these places that is why I read and learn some about them. I really like Eghpt, it has so many beautiful places and sites there.
Thanks for sharing, this was very interesting

I try not to judge other countries as a whole or for history. All countries and all nations are ruled by a government and I believe all governments are corrupt on some level and hide things from their people the USA is included in this. I love this thought provoking piece. Great write and thoughts poured onto this paper.
