BHARATA RATNA, SACHIN TENDULKARA Poem by Jvl narasimharaoThe poem ought to have been written on SACHIN'S retirementThe magical bat has come to a standstill The man with the wonderful willow climbed the top hill In international cricket especially in Indian cricket the void is difficult to fill Though many a young and talented batsman have the zeal and will He may lack the ferociousness of King Richards And has not batted with the force of Gayle’s He may not tally with the great Sir Bradman’s averages Yet he has set for himself some historical pages Unlike the devastating Brian Lara He did not have the longest score in his career Unlike yuv raj singh he did not hit six sixes in an over Though many commercial agencies has used his name and word Even today some critics say he is not the best batsman in the world Like WG Grace he has some incredible grace He has treated equally the mesmerizing spin and the fierce pace In and off the field he is really a thorough gentle man Some of his batting feats are undoubtedly uncommon Indians are really proud of his Godly stature Even his cricketing opponents like his calm nature One day some of his records might be broken But he will forever be remembered for the precious Bharat Ratna token
