THE TWO DEMONS

Oh! Mother Goddess, You are bound by Two demons-caste and dowry

They sustain strength, energy and power from each other

And do not care the arrows from many a great warrior

The two demons block the progressive way of the countrymen

And destroy their critical and democratic acumen

Though you are worshipped for your great cultural heritage

You are unable to wipe out two demons even in this modern age

Many an intellectual fall a prey to the demon caste

Their knowledge, education, humanity turn out to be waste

Many a young women are devoured in your presence by the demon dowry

There is no end to their lamentable story

I really pity your helplessness

Even though I worship your holiness

Unless you destroy the two demons in the near future

You will slowly and surely lose your divine stature

Thank you for your thoughts on a important topic. I agree with your logic. Hard to change old ways. Old and new countries get set in their ways and change will come slowly or not at all. It is difficult for those who have believed this for many generations to change their belief, but the way of the modern world is that change cries out for society to be rid of that which holds back progress for a nation, for a people, for an individual. We have a duty to honor, but it is not always the way that should continue - as you mention the dowry for young women. It is not part of my culture, but I think it not fair.
You have written wise words in expressing your opinion and desire for change!
