I ATE MY GURU

I ATE MY GURU

A Poem by Jvl narasimharao

I  ATE MY GURU

To my Guru I wanted to repay my debt

And asked for his benign assent

HE wanted me to be cannibal

And advised me to eat his flesh and blood

Just like a cruel tiger would

I thought it was beyond my human hood

I was shuddered to hear his strange advice

But I knew he was divinely wise

But I could not be so cruel

And conveyed my out right refusal

But he insisted on my becoming a man eater

My eyes filled with endless tearful water

I started eating his right finger

I knew I was suffering from insatiable hunger

The more I ate his flesh, the wiser I got

I was worried about my Guru’s fate

But he smiled as he fell flat

But what a change in my though!

My Guru is physically no more

But he sees the world as long as I am here

I will do the same without any fear

I will gift my body to my very dear

This was such an interesting write! I'd never thought of eating a Guru before, I wonder what they taste like? Seriously, I know there was something deeper in there but I just can put my finger on it at the moment. It goes into my library to read and enjoy again!

fascinating - on the surface its a repellent concept - the consumption of flesh - but on a symbolic level - it is a common - relatable theme. To digest, to absorb - to gain sustenance from....that's how I interpret this piece.

The flesh is fleeting and it seems maybe Guru no longer had need of his flesh, yet the student did have need of Guru's spiritual sustenance. Eating the flesh of another seems pretty creepy indeed JVL, but I supposed if I take into account the metaphysics of the idea, c**k my head to one side and squint my eyes...??? I can sort of see it. Well written piece none the less.

Well I must say that this poem is different then any that I've ever read. The tone is interesting and the way it's written was nice! I have my own interpretations of this and I think that the underlying message is wonderful. Another then the actual visual of eating another human (literally), I really enjoyed this piece. Thanks for sharing

I couldn't help but think about the practice of Christians of Holy Communion. I know that this is probably not where you were going with this, but I couldn't help but think. Excellent write JVL, very thought provoking.

To digest the wisdom and body of another can make us gain knowledge and wisdom. The poem made me think and fall into your thoughts. A interesting poem.
