Blue Star Ball

Blue Star Ball

A Story by Sixth Moon
"

Reminded me of my younger days when I was a kid and played with my dog

"

'One day a boy named Irwin were playing fetch with his dog named 'Pastery'. The boy was around theage of 8 , pretty tall for his age, slim, with red hair and little tiny freckles that ran up and down his face. Full of excitement and joy he would always look to find new adventures each and everyday after school. His best friend was  Pastery, white fluffy , she loves to run around in circles all day long. She had a pink ribbon tied on her left ear and a rose on her other ear because she liked flowers, but she wasn't afraid to get dirty either.

Irwin and Pastery went out to a park later than usual. It was filled with trees, wooden swings, the sun was setting gracefully in the west. The grass was bright green here and butterflies floated around everywhere. Flower beds were distrubuted throughout this place. The trees danced in the wind and the sky appeared to be a bright blue. The grass felt like the most expenisive softest carpet.

Those two were the only ones that came to the park after school while to enjoy life. They felt warm on this fine spring day. Their hearts were filled with joy. As usual, their time at the park , Irwin would throw his red ball with a big blue star on it that sparkled as he threw it ino the distance as pastrey fetched it. As he threw it, he thought to himself as a super hero with super stregth.

So each time pastery brought the ball back, he would throw it further and futher. Until he threw the ball with all his stregnth into the distance. Pastery would fetch the ball over and over again.

"See if you can catch this one, Irwin shouted"

HE threw the ball past the tree into the part of the field that he never could have thrown before at this distance. After a Irwin felt that Pastery had dissapeared for a minute to long. This time she did not come back after he threw it so far. He wistfully went into the direction that he threw it. Once he reached where Pastery was panting . The Blue sparkling star ball given to by his older sister had floated away down a stream into the never ending river. It was a narrow river that seem to go down a pathway into mystical wonder.

"Oh no,  What are we going to do now? We must get the ball back?"  Irwin shouted,

Irwin determined to find retrieve his ball. Pastery afraid of water, could only stand by his side as she turned her neck and watched it float down the river. Irwin did not cry, or was sad, He knew in his heart that he would get his sparkling blue star ball. He ran down the river it floated down. Wishing the ball would come to shore. He and Pastrey kept catching up to the ball as he kept using a large stick he found during the way. Big and brown cane-like stick that he hoped would be a tool to bring this in.

After a while the sun was setting closer  to the horizon and him and pastery grew weary and tired. Then all of a sudden he saw a girl skipping rocks. at the river side. She saw the ball floating down the river. And the way she skipped the rocks, determined to skip each rock she threw across the river which should never have.

"I want to be the champion of rock skipping" she said to herself.

Before the ball would catch up to to the girl, Irwin and Pastery sprinted to her and asked if she could use the rocks to hit the ball to the other side of the river. She kindly accepted the challenge.

"Let's see who can get that ball right out those wild waters first, First person will be the winner of course" the little girl said with a tickle in her voice.

"We must quickly get my ball out of there, HURRY!". Irwin replied while queasy

The young lady was a strong girl about the age of 9 or 10. She had long brunette hair and bright smile that could shed light on the darkest cave for days. She was strong and determined to help.

She quickly asked Irwin " Gather as much rocks as you can, and give them to me so that I can make your wish come true".

Soon the ball came floating down, she aimed and set her focus on getting the ball out the river. Her arm readied-up to throw the first rock and then launched it.

"Darn" she said"

She missed. The girl got another rock , a little bigger than the first one, She threw it and skipped it across the river, then she hit the ball and it got closer to shore.

"Almost gotcha" she rejoiced

But it wasn't good enough as it kept flowing down the river slowly. Little do they know, the river will split into two and they will not be able to reach one side after while. The ball floating closer to shore  seemed that it will be lost forever. But as they slowly walk parraell to the ball, trying to skip the rocks to hit the ball to shore. Irwin begins toss a few rocks, but his efforts were useless as he became too anxious. Slowly the Blue star ball begins to float away and suddenly the two sees the splitting river and Irwin began to panic.

Then the girl finally takes out her gold rock she had in her pocket, full of special powers, because it began to glow in her hand, but she wanted to help out so badly and she gripped it tightly and then kissed the rock goodbye.

"My grandpa gave me this gold rock, and this is going to get the ball out for sure", she shouted with a powerful affirmation

As the ball gently reared to towards the splitting river, she gracefully raised her arm up and precisely hit the ball right on the blue star and it magnificantly bounced towards the shower, just before the split, the gold rock sunk and dissapeared slowly sinking to the bottom. she couragously sacrifised her rock and smiled after she saw the ball bounced to the other side.

"See I told you my rock would get out the water thanks to that great gold rock of mine"  she said

"Thank you so much, Thank you, Thank you!!" Irwin replied

"BARK BARK" Pastry charmingly spewed out

Irwin and pastery jumped and cheered for joy, well, PAstery only bark. she yelped cheeringly :) .

But they were trying to figure out how they were going to get the other side. Irwin did not want to get wet, and PAstery couldn't swim. The girl didn't have a clue either, so they sat there and were thinking how they were going to get to the other side. They reached a part of the area they never been to before, but since they went along the river , they knew how to get back. All of a sudden after talking about ways to go across without getting wet.

The girl remarked to him, "I could fly over there and get it for you, but i am to scared that I might fall in "

Irwin laughed and said "You can't fly", then suddenly.

The girl told Irwin to close his eyes and wish for the ball to come to this side.

"Irwin pretty skeptic, nervously closed his eyes and began to wish for the ball to come to them.

Then abruptly. There were two kids shouting loudly on the other side of the river.

Two kids playing soccer, all of a sudden kicked the ball close to the river. Then the two kids came down and saw their soccer ball and the star ball washed up on shore

"Hey kid , is this your ball" They called out.

Irwin and the girl opened their eyes and said "YES" Simultaneously

"Catch"  they shouted

The soccer players kindly threw it back and pastery flung into the air. and caught the ball.

Irwin glady said "thank you"

, And the girl stood there and smiled and told the Irwin "Congrats but I WIN!".

Irwin kindly gave her a big hug. He wanted to do something repay her for the gold rock.

"How can I make it up to you he said?" Irwin asked

She said "No thanks, I have to go home, I finally came to do what I was sent her to do". And the boy asked " which was?" . "Help someone with my gold rock by grandfather gave me he told, that one day someone will need it besides me. and I guess you were the one. " The boy seemed puzzled and asked her if she came out here often. She said "no, only when I want to skip rocks , But I have to get going" and she ran into the distance and waved good bye

"Bye bye, and thanks again" Irwin shouted

Then pastery standing behind irwin grabbed his hand to get going as well. and Irwin turned to pet Pastery and looked back to see the girl off. But she dissapeard and all that was left was the sun setting in the distance. and a white large bird heading towards it. Irwin and Pastery sat there for some time enjoy the mystical view. Then turn and headed home, AS he was tossing the ball from hand to hand , he looked into the star ball he say the girl smile and wink.

Was she actually a shape shifter, angel, fairy, or a girl that ran super fast. "No one knows, I'll let you be the judge.
