Blockade

A Story by Joshua Gerlach

Its like Hell, a horrible, confused feeling of uncertainty, you can't think, and can't talk, the only thing you can do is sit there, wallowing in your scambled thoughts. Every writer faces it, no one can get around it, there's no secret pass though the center, or a convenient burrow trail, just you and your bare hands, no rope, no pick, just a straight edge with sharp rocks at the bottom and a typewriter at the top. Someone very close to me once said "There's no such thing as 'writer's block' just the uncertainty of what you want to happen next." true, but also Writer's block is the uncertainty of how to write what you want to happen next, you can see it in your head, but you can't bring yourself to put it on paper.

Good point. That's why writing takes practice, practice, practice. Even if you don't at first capture the vision in exactly the way you wanted to, keep working it at. Eventually you will develop the ability to translate what you see in your imagination to the words others will read. And FYI (for future reference): Your responsibility is to tell the tale in the best manner you can; it is not your responsibility how the reader's imagination translates your words into images.

I'm 17, I've trimmed down the number of writing projects I'm working on, and write in moderation and weekly-to-monthly intervals. I play video games while I think of what I'm going to write, sometime.. more..
