My Crazy Life Book ReviewA Story by Jaded Silence Press
My Crazy Life by Nicole Sebula Book Review
Nicole Sebula takes you on a wonderful ride in this autobiography. She jumps around from childhood to adulthood to adolescence and back again. Each chapter is an interesting and most often a funny story of a birthday or experieces with her early jobs. She writes each chapter with a mixture of humor and wit that I haven't seen in a long time. Nicole tells of her trip to Hawaii at the beginning of the year and how she got 7 people in a VW Beattle. From her experieces with family to experieces with friends, you'll be hooked from beginning to end. This book was easier than I previous projects for Jaded Silence Press, because I'd already read it. I found the only thing to change was the paragraphs and title heading for each chapter. Easy things to do. Even with the jumping from time period to time period in this book, there is a flow that is uniquely and wonderfully, Nicole. Anyone who knows her will, hopefully, know what I'm talking about. She makes even the most interesting story funny, whether it was meant to be or supposed to be funny. However it was supposed to be, serious and whatnot, it was funny. When you see how many times she gets pulled over, you want to feel sorry for her, but you end up in stitches from her reactions to how the police treated her. Nicole even tells of her experiences going back to college and vacations that I only wish I'd had. Some not all of the experiences.
I read this originally Writer's Cafe, as it was written, and I told Nicole that she has led such an interesting life. She has. I've often told her that I'd like to switch lives with her for just a week or two, jokingly. However, I also told her that since it would be me for that couple weeks, it probably wouldn't be as interesting and that my life while she was living it would be the interesting part. We both laughed and agreed about that. Personally, I love autobiographies and biographies. They can tell you of people long ago, people you've never had a chance to meet and of people now, whom you'd love to meet...though you may never have the chance. You get to relive events in history, long past, important events. In My Crazy Life this is one of those rare chances to get to know a friend better, better than you did before. To understand why that friend is who they are and how they became that. With MLC Nicole shows you how the more interesting events of her life have shaped her life and her personality. Nicole bares her soul in a way that most people wouldn't. It's a subtle baring of the soul, you have to really read what's written to find it. You have to pay attention and really want to see what she has to show you.
This book is a personl favorite of mine, as it has shown and given me a deeper understanding of a very good friend. She answers questions to questions I never would have thought to ask.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone who likes to read autobiographies or wants to get to know Nicole a little better.
