what we thought it would be.

 

Strangers at first consumed by thirst

on the rebound our emotions immersed.

 

With gaping wounds still freshly made,

bleeding hearts sang a consoling serenade.

 

Pining souls reaching out for attention

shedding emotional

layers of misapprehension.

 

Forever you forever me, forever lateral so

beautifully.

 

Rebound romance helps to fill in the void

of a previous commitment unfortunately

destroyed.

 

Afraid of the future we hide from the past

sharing sexual pleasure which we both know

won’t last.

 

But for the moment so beguiling is our need

soon silently drifting until we concede.

of heartbreak so indecisively…

Yes, this is how love is for me, at least at present (except for the sexual end, as that part of me is reserved for a select one or two). Even if we were to shed our fear, love still disappoints us at every turn. One must wonder why this is so when it keeps on happening time and again. Very emotional piece of writing. Well done.
