I once believed

I once believed

A Poem by Dream Weaver

I once believed in magic, the magic of you and I, one sensational entity soaring effortlessly through the sky.

I once believed in love more precious than a diamond ring, the warmth of tenderness and the comfort that it would bring.

I once believed in family with ties much stronger than steel, followed by friends and acquaintances, and now I don't know how to feel?

I once believed in Music and all the beautiful melodies, I've composed romantic sonata's that turn out to be "Greek Tragedies".

I once believed in love, some say only fools believe, the more you open your heart, the less that you receive.

The more we believe and trust, the more we allow other people to wound us. Almost anyone can relate to this, nowadays, because people are just becoming more and more vile and ruthless to others. So sad. Very well written, fellow poet!

Thank you kindly LadySoDevine...
it does seem at times that when we open our heart to someone we also are opening our veins and bleeding out a slow and tiresome demise. there is much in this write i can directly relate to, so i find it touches me deeply and profoundly. such a tragic expression of things not realized and abandoned for lent. well penned, dear poet!

Yes Poppy, always up and rarely down :) xoxo
A nicely penned clear expression of having idealistic hopes and expectations crushed under the unsypathetic boot of reality.

Thank you my friend, much appreciated...I enjoyed your "Unsympathetic boot of reality" comment...
This really strikes a cord with me. I've lost my belief in love too. I love the way this flows too, it's an awesome write.

Thank you Bri. Long time no see huh? Hope all is well with you..
I read a piece by Neva; inspired by your work she wrote a captivating piece, so I felt compelled to visit and read, absorb and feel your work. This piece moved me and brought me to a place of divine remembrance of when I believed. I still believe but not in the same innocent, open, and hopeful place I once did. This piece has me misty with a smidgen of sadness and the silly desire to go back to when I once believe with my whole heart.

a beautiful tragedy; your forte - i can't help but sense that you were meant to see this way so we can think and consider the blessings and curses of strength and vulnerability. i once believed too...once believed i could do it all in love but then; if i'm doing all the loving without no reciprocation; i am loving myself less...a lesson in love i am just starting to learn -

' I've composed romantic sonata's that turn out to be "Greek Tragedies". And you've also composed beauty and more. Maybe just have to play in a different key, Joe?

Tis good to read your poetry again, to see how you lay out your words so readers can share a speck of your feeling. Life can be hell, things happen which turn light to permanent pre.dawn. But how that muddles the mind and heart. We have to cherish love whatever, whenever, coz, it's there, waiting, has to be as sure as Spring is around the corner.
