Patriot Till Death

We will forever stand on the promised land 

Where the eagle proudly flies.

We will live to love to love to live 

Where dreams are meant to rise. 

Now you have taken our ground and turned it around 

But truth be not where it lies. 

We will paint a portrait of words aflame 

If only for the truth to burn in your eyes. 

So if you are then kill us now 

But the truth it - never dies.

This flows pretty well, you did a good job with the rhyming lines. The content turned out to be different from what I'd expected it to be but nice. I found some fine lines in your poem.

love the thought and passion you are tapping into ..reads a little rough in spots ..perhaps it is the rhyme scheme you chose ..and my false expectation of the couplets rhyming once it started ... patriotism can be a marvelous thing; or not if too extreme ..and one can be attacked for expressing it ..on a personal level rather than substantive thought ... well done i say! God bless the USA! ... we have truly lost a great deal of what our fathers and mothers left to us... :(

don't think so....and yet we love our country and we hold on hard to that patriotism...and hope that the truth will find its way back.
