Fallen Heart

Fallen Heart

A Poem by JRC Talberg

We are together,
A thousand years pass
In a beat of my fallen heart.

And growing old together shall seal my fallen heart,
blinding my mind, as I am truly content to
Hold your hand under the soft, whispered light
Of this moon forever.

A gargoyle should be wrapped around my fallen heart
To protect me from this world,
To protect me from love,
and to protect me from bright intellects, best friends,
with grey eyes.

But there is no such thing, so do not let me go.
