CATBOATA Poem by Joseph B ClipperLOVE STORYthere was a victrola in the corner playing 1934 it seemed to be a new one that I had not seen before and the hint, the shimmer of perfume took root upon the air I turn slowly to tease myself, I knew she was here as I recall she apologized for the tardiness, funny thing to remember then I was a boy who only noted the passing of December she hit me wit that smile of hers as if the sun was contained and with a kiss on my forehead she made me feel ordained there was a stain on the bed sheets of her blood and my tears for the pain of loosing innocence and the joy of sharing the fear and the candle burned a silhouette etched upon my mind it has never lost its warmth in all this time neither of us took the money, we left it for the queen we took the bed sheet, bought a catboat, and set sail for a dream
