barriers

barriers

A Poem by Joseph B Clipper
"

love song

"
I'm not one to wear my heart out on my sleeve
but I swear that I will never ever let you leave
time has slowed down as we near our destiny
from here on baby it seems its gonna be you and me
maybe i'm crazy but I always thought love meant pain
an emptiness inside once filled just cant be sustained
my heart became a mirror reflecting only its frame
I made myself a winner while still losing the game
you taught me the rules that seem to apply
in closest proximity two lover you and I
now there is no longer a fear in my heart
my life is filled with open doors and the remains of barriers
you have shattered all my delusions
love can sometimes live up to the illusion
and every beat of your heart breaks down barriers
and every beat of my heart is closer to strange exposures

circa 1984
