SATYRICON FIVE

SATYRICON FIVE

A Poem by Joseph B Clipper

too many pills and not enough food
no more cameras and no more booze
too many people that I know have never been
so many questions I don't know where to begin
too much dance oriented rock and roll
too much rhythm and not enough soul
too many hours and not enough pay
so much to do and not enough day
too many commercials telling me what to buy
so many wonders and not enough whys
too many red lights and not enough speed
at this point I don't know what I mean
too many steps that I have gotta climb
too many absurdities and not enough rhyme

circa 1980 in college after seeing Fellini

As I read this verse...
the opposites attract...
one another in the write...
gives you a quick read...
the way this goes...
the thought process...
must consume the lines...
for what they are worth...
