April and September

April and September

A Poem by JohnL

A Triple Tanka
Between
April
And
September

How long must I wait?
When will you come back to me?
When the Spring returns
My loving heart comes again
With the snowdrop and crocus.

Come now; do not wait.
Spring burns within me – Now,
Oh that I had fire
Burning in this ageing frame
Sap rises slow in old trees.

I will wait for you;
As old trees turn gently green.
I will come to you,
Feeling the rising within.

Together, life’s juice will flow.

This was awesome! I like the way you used the characteristics of April and September to describe them withough ever using their names. It was descriptive and the imagery was fantastic! Really amazing piece :]

An extremely thought provoking poem.

You write,

Sap rises slow in old trees.

This line is a true gem in the poem that comes to fruition by the final line. Sabine*

You have a light touch, maybe it comes from knowing both April and September. Your skill shines.

Exquisite thoughts set in beautiful words.

' When the Spring returns / My loving heart comes again / With the snowdrop and crocus.' - wonderful words with gentle, human memories mixed with subtle desire.
