What If . . . . . . . ?

What If . . . . . . . ?

A Poem by JohnL
"

For Emma's what If Contest

"

What if I do?
Or don’t?
And how about you?
If you will,
Or you won’t?
And where is destiny
Why are you testing me?
Isn’t all prescribed,
Imbibed
With our genes?
Have I a choice,
A voice,
A say
In the way
I may
Rejoice?
Or does fate
Adjudicate,
And state
Our direction? - -
At ‘If’s’ intersection.

John L Berry, 20th February 2009, on his Birthday.
And now remains the big ‘IF’

John,

Don't you write anything that I don't like? I think we're kindred spirits.....as Anne Shirley might say. I love the voluminous content in such a few small sentences. Very succinct. I see that you like to experiment with forms and structures, layers and depths (like me). I have nothing to say but...Kudos on another wonderful poem. Not too deep, but deep enough. Love it.

Fabulous! Fate, education or free quill? This had the kind of playful tone that I have read in many a master's work of art and that's just what it is; a masterful work of art. loved it!
