Do not delay to come, Oh spring,
with all thy wondrous gifts and grace;
For surely thou canst us supply,
indeed! Wilt in profusion bring
the light, the life, the New Year’s face,
the joy for which mankind doth cry.
'Tis certain, winter’s sullen, drear
and weary, sorrowed, careworn race,
on Spring’s bright bounty can rely,
to usher in fair summer’s cheer.
