Laughter andTears

Laughter andTears

A Poem by JohnL

A Time to Laugh and a Time to Cry.
To every thing there is a season and a time to every purpose under heaven . . . . . a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance. Ecclesiastes 3 v.v 1 and 4.

At times in life may it be my just lot
that others find amusement in my wit;
that I should find their humour’s tickling spot;
may I, forever laughs and smiles transmit.
Let happiness prevail where’re I go
and laughter be a sound that follows me;
May paths I tread in life, come hail or snow
be known for pleasure, joy and levity.

But ! - - - There is more to life than merry game,
for life can often be forlorn and sad.
The ways we travel are not all the same
and life, while sometimes good, is oft-times bad.

So humour should be tempered with control.
On occasion - - the need is to console.
