Betwixt our Hearts

Betwixt our Hearts

A Poem by Solace Descending
"

A metaphysical and theological inquiry into human language. Enjoy.

"

Space, that void of everything, yet full up on nothing.

It fills the gaps of the stars, the area between mine words

And stands barrier betwixt our hearts.

O void, love laments at your intrusion between

Our distanced souls, of our inability to express

Our true selves to all we love in life.

O word upon the page, you carry our meaning and expression;

And voice in the air: all our feelings and love.

You are an illusion yet the bearer of beauty.

O limited language, you are but created by flawéd man,

Failing to express the infinite complexities of the soul,

Yet poet and wordsmith bring out your grace despite your flaw.

O fey nature, we are to die and be consumed by worm of the Earth,

Yet in death, souls enter into their æviternity, and we are able to express freely.

Ye void, Begone! for now free from flawéd flesh, in a vision so beatific, we give ourselves.

Author's Note

Solace Descending
The formatting didn't copy over. I used "distributed" text alignment, such that when the poem starts out, there is a lot of space between each character. As the poem goes on, the spaces get smaller, and the last line looks like normal document spacing. This extra concrete aspect makes the poem better.
