ChangesA Poem by Joey NizzI sought for happiness and joy in peace and harmony, and rest to calm and give comfort to my exhausted and fatigue mind Affected mentally and stressed by such a heavy load, rest I just had to find My endurance could hold no more, my limits had been met I needed time to stand aside, sweet time to just forget But where to find the path to peace, an obscure trait to me My frantic, turbulent way of life can't comprehend a way to set time free I've always pressed and rushed from one point to the next with no side glace allowed I had my life so well composed in truth, I felt reasonably proud No one could tell me what to do, I was self-made My time and schedules were controlled by me, I had an accurate, perfect plan 'Twas good when everything went my way and no one had to interfere I had no one to answer to, my way was always cleared But time within the years of this created me no joy, though fortunes I had gathered and accumulated It seemed that everything I possessed and owned would oh, so soon be past I had no friends that knew my plight and predicament, I kept myself at bay They all had troubles of their own; besides, what could they say? They envied me with all my wealth, they never saw my pain I had my life altogether, what more was there to gain? But isolation and loneliness is terrible and emptiness is sad There seems no meaning for each day, no such reason to be glad. So now I wait, but why? I don't really know, but life for me must take a change There must be greater fortunes, a way to rearrange There has to be a purpose, and someone surely knows Why life is so complex and days and nights so full of woes Maybe you have the answer, maybe you know the route Maybe you've had experience in travel here before; if so, please aid me and give me a way out If its a must, I'll be patient, I'll even capture advice I'll happily make the changes, no matter what the price No need for independence, I've had my round of that I yearn for understanding, to know just where I'm at Someday I hope to thank you because you saw my need Perhaps with better meaning, with determination not with greed I don't know how I got here, what's waiting before me I'm thankful there'll be changes, I'm thankful to be free. To quote the poet, John McLeod: "Poems are the friends we make them, expressing in words a thought, of happiness, sadness, caring, experience dearly bought." Poetry is a form of connection, a form of communication and people use every verse from poems in cards, in speeches, in action, and an inspiration with all positivity. Reading a poem can change your thinking on a topic, or it can describe how you are really feeling. © 2018 Joey NizzReviews
