The Black Letter

The Black Letter

A Story by Joey Nizz

I saw a shadow in the corner of my eye, no one is there, I was alone on my own in my living room in the night, in the dark just reading a novel.
Actually..
Come to think of it..
It's the same shadow that iv'e seen in the same corner around a year ago.

Oh right, It has been keeping track of me anywhere and wherever i go inside of my own home, always has been since I first saw it a year ago, I only caught a glimpse of it when i turned to the right when i thought i heard something
It was mostly fine but sometimes its like it has eyes, just standing there watching and keeping a track of my movements, it was all good until last night when I was sitting in my room and turned to the left this time and saw it, I saw a bigger shadow this time, well.. I don't know if "Shadow" was the right term but it was so big that it felt like a demon just standing there, watching..
I don't know what it was, maybe a demon? a monster? a ghost? whatever you wanna call it it doesn't matter because it was there!
Honestly I don't know what could've happened if i went to it to check it out, maybe it could've killed me if I approached to see it
It was nothing but a distraction
A scary one..

Since then
It has been checking on me, and everything was fine until last night..
I decided to do it and go towards it but as soon as I came near it it disappeared and I found a black envelop where the shadow was..
I opened the envelop and there was a black paper, with black writing!
I couldn't exactly make out what was written
But all I read was
I can't get you to see me now
You will not like what you'll see
So please
Whatever you try to do
NEVER!
Look to your left and let your curiosity make you check
Because you know what they say
Curiosity killed the cat
But this time
Your curiosity will make me
Kill you!

This story reminded me about a creepypasta I watched last summer, about the dark shadows we see in the corner of our eyes, but the other one was a little different.

You did a good job Joey:)

Oh really? hmm interesting, Thanks for your review! ^^
You reminded me of a poem named Curious mishaps by Vikram seth. Do read it I hope you will like it. I was thinking to write on a similar topic where one feels so restless thinking that she is being looked after by someone and I wanted to make the readers think that they are ghosta and all but I wanted to end it as they angels were looking after her inorder to make people believe that there is goodness too it is not about evil always. ☺

Some letter! There's a creepy, spine chilling thread to this story, most of which holds the interest. Seems your shadow or shadows could represent what you or your readers think of first.. or maybe second.. or perhaps third.. tis the way the mind works.

There is a little rambling and repetitive phrasing in the tale but easily sorted if read aloud and carefully heard., Joey.
