A Well-Dressed Intruder

A Well-Dressed Intruder

A Poem by JMo

You’ve rented a nice little place in a dark corner of my mind

Sometimes I see you peering out at me from your front porch

I look away quickly, hoping you’ll stay on your side of the fence

I’ve been seeing you less and less lately

I sort of hoped you’d moved out

You always did make me a little nervous

So imagine my surprise when I awoke this morning

To find you darkening my doorstep

A looming figure, a well-dressed intruder

You won’t leave

I’ve asked nicely, but you’ve insisted on coming in

You’re getting comfortable, loosening your tie

I squirm in my seat - here we go again
