I think this poem really works. I like your descriptions, good use of imagery, like "skulks" and "lover's stance"
Also the actual picture painted by your poem itself works for me and I like your lack of rhyme as most contemporary poetry does not rhyme and also your sparse use of words which is what poetry is for the most part. I think nicely done.

That was the most unusual piece I've ever read in a while and somehow, I seriously enjoyed reading it. If you never had made that word "waits" straight down in the middle, this writing would have been a little less entertaining...

So, it's all still great tho...
