Thinking Of Me

Thinking Of Me

A Poem by JMariah

You no longer think of me,

as you grow more comfortable

with the smile you put on in conversations,

saying I love you in all the appropriate places,

and playing the dutiful husband

with her on your arm.

But I imagine you still fall asleep

with goodbye welling in your eyes

and my name sailing the hungry space

between parted lips.

OH WOW....
"my name sailing the hungry space between parted lips." this line is a stunner!!! The duality of the married man who seems to be happy with his wife...walking down the street with her and doing all sorts of family activities. All the while he has a lover with whom he can be himself, be happy, be fulfilled. Makes one wonder what he is thinking! Great poetry here. lydia
