The Kiss

The Kiss

A Poem by JMariah

In all the world
I’ve never known
a sweeter touch than this:

the hot press of
my lover’s lips
and mine locked in a kiss.

Though hands may stir
my panting flesh
to quiver deep within,

and whispered words
may lick their way
across my tingling skin,

no single touch
can do so much
to warm me quite like this,

as when my lover
freezes time
and holds me in a kiss.

This is my second read of your poetry. I am a fan. You write from a strong "whole person" perspective. You are earth mother. You exude life and vitality. It is very attractive and very nurturing. Classic.

A kiss can be the simplest form of innocence....this can go either way....

This one is so good that I don't think people would mind that you posted it twice. This piece made me think of the guy who just makes me melt when I kiss him. The flow is beautiful. And the imagery just made pictures appear in my mind. Love it.

Wow! I'm really suprised that this doesn't have more comments. I am sometimes accused of being an unromantic clod as most men are at one time or another. I understand that this is a failing of mine, but I certainly feel a chill when I read this. The rhyme and meter are flawless, which I is a quality that is rare. I am very impressed.

Bravo!

What a wonderful poem! My, you really related so well how wonderful a kiss can be, I really enjoyed this especially because I recently wrote a poem about a kiss. Those last two stanzas really got me.

Wonderful writing!

Thank you too, for your lovely review of "unattainable dreams- your right about "basking" it's been bugging me too, I need to change that. Thanks so very much and g' day to you!

This is the kind of poem that should always be published twice. ;-)

It's sexy and sweet all at the same time.

"as when my lover

Well, I did not see it in February and I am glad I found it now because it is a lyrical beauty of a poem! A kiss can freeze time...and also can be forever frozen in time in the form of a splendid memory. Beautifully written. lydia

I had to share this with my close .. friend. LOL. It's absolutely beautiful, not that I would expect anything else from you, Ms. Mariah. Great work!
