Politically Correct

Politically Correct

A Poem by J.M. Wise

Enough of the petty bullshit,

Today’s problems are trivial.

The world isn’t your safe haven

Success isn’t earned, it’s taken.

So go ahead and hide your kids,

Don’t show them what bad people did.

Let them be in their world of bliss,

Go to bed with a good night kiss.

But keep this in mind at all times;

The world is offensive and mad.

People killing people; jihad.

Excuse me if I take offense

That your feelings got hurt.

Because someone told your daughter

She couldn’t be president.

Or somebody calls your son “F*g!”,

Because there's much larger problems.

So instead of offense, let’s stop

And instead let’s fly a peace flag.

I like the straightforward talk in this piece, which seems to be the opposite of the title (NOT politically correct) . . . I'm just a little confused over whether the overall message is to BE politically correct or not!??!?! But beyond that confusion, I like what you're saying & how it reflects the strife of our current world.
