Enchanted

A Story by ♥ EmeraldHeart ♥

An Autumn Evening,
Walking through a wood you've always known,
since anyone you were ever close to by blood passed away in
a devastating fire year before, you have traveled this forest.
Hearing the crunch of branches beneath you,
Leaves crumble and fall all around.
But you seem to have stumbled too far,
A new path you have never seen before enters your sight.
Pushing through the bushes, you see a bright light.
You keep going and venturing through the leaves
towards this mysterious beaming aura.
The autumn colored leaves turn to an emerald color.
The bushes, growing purple flowers with blue centers.
Beautiful butterflies surround your body.
You then reach the finish of the shrubs,
You realize you have just discovered an Enchanted Paradise.
Lavender water fills the ponds with pink lilies floating.
Willow trees with the look of spring,
Fresh grass slips between your toes.
Small flying creatures swarm towards your legs.
Your feet no longer touching the ground,
The small critters have lifted you gracefully above the water,
Through trees and over hills and mountains.
Over a golden waterfall you see a cottage of some sort.
The little beings gently place you on the ground.
A few small individuals stay while others leave.
The ones that remain you notice aren't an unknown species completely.
They have wings long like angels, colors of butterflies and
bodies as if they are human.
You have reached a conclusion that you are face to face with
An actual fairy.
Shaking your head in confusement and distraught
you see a glimmering twinkle within the cottage.
Easily stepping toward the odd glimmer.
Creaking open the door, you see a full-figured winged creature.
She turns and speaks,
"We have awaited your arrival my Queen...."
Confused you open your mouth to speak, but she continues...
"It has been years since we have last been with you,
You will have to continue with your duties,
The fairies are waiting for you outside to take you to your home"
You are bewildered at what she speaks of.
Uttering the the thoughts going through your head you say,
"I..I..I can't be your 'Queen' for whom have you mistaken me for? "
The mysterious figure states,
"You are our Queen, you were younger in age
last you visited but still you remain our ruler,
You must now reclaim your throne,
But your wardrobe must be adjusted."
She motioned her hands as if she wanted you
to come closer to her.
You inch towards her direction when
a white dust surrounds you.
Moments pass and you are released,
you gaze at your reflection in the mirror next to you.
You see a crown that fits you perfectly,
You white silk gown laced in gold and
Your hair up with shimmers of silver and emeralds all through it.
"That is indeed much better.
Come you must be taken at once to your home"
"My..My Home?"
"Yes, the home in which you created when you
first arrived here of course."
She points in the direction of North.
"You must follow the mushrooms to the great Willow,
there she will tell you where to go, good luck"
Before you could slip out a single word she had vanished.
Sliding the wooden ivy-covered door open,
you see red and white mushrooms leading in a path.
You begin to walk to dirt path next to them.
As you travel along you think to yourself,
'Is this all a dream?'
While you are thinking you stumble along to see an enormous willow tree.
'Maybe this is the Great Willow the mysterious woman spoke of.'
You approach the Willow and you hear a voice,
"Why if it isn't our long lost and beloved queen.."
You look around,
"Who is there?"
The voice says," It is me the Great Willow,
You do not remember?"
"I'm sorry, No. Who are you to me?"
"Why my dear I am your grandmother."
'What? my grandmother died 19 years ago, It can't be.'
You stumble at the sound of these words
hurting your ears like nails on a chalkboard.
"But..But How can it be?"
"Oh my dear, you will soon see..."
A small pause takes place when the Great Willow says,
"You must now go forth to your home,
Follow the mountain eagle West of here,
then he will take you to your home."
You take a small bridge over
a luxurious creek and you spot the Eagle in which
the Great Willow spoke of.
"Hello Lady Bug."
"Excuse me?"
You realize as you blurted out 'excuse me?'
in such a rude manor that that is the nickname your father
had given you just 2 years before he died.
"Yes Lady Bug, I am sure you are remembering now..
come I will take you home."
Everyone speaks of this home
but you have no idea what they really mean.
The Eagle leads you through a million trees and
hundreds of steps.
You reach a hill and the Eagle speaks and says,
"Go forth a reach your home."
You take a few steps forward.
A gray stone roof reaches your sight.
You inch further and further,
and it clicks in your mind...
You created this mysterious place when you were alone.
When everyone had died you needed a place to go.
The Great Willow is you grandmother,
She loved willow trees and read to you underneath one everyday.
Your Father is the Eagle,
He loved this great bird.
And the mysterious woman,...
Of course!
She is Mother,
She always loved angels and now that she is gone, she is
with the angels now.
Your home is simply the remembrance of your beloved.
When you go to enter your home,
it all disintegrates.
The trees turn to autumn.
The leaves go from lush green
to oranges,browns and reds.
You will never again forget what you had witnessed.
You will cherish the strong memory of your loved-ones.
