Cry Havoc!

Cry Havoc!

A Poem by Jeremy Baker

I close my eyes each night with an impression

of you imprinted in my eyes,

and the obscure reflection of me in yours.

Ravishing softness is subservient

to shadows which eclipse and slaughter

the soul’s submissive sounds.

Annihilate fears, decimate doubt

with voracious, rapacious hunger.

Evocative laughter calls me homeward,

resonant of sleep, resounding beauty.

Cry Havoc! and let slip the pups of peace.

A very mature work here. This is a piece from seasoned writer who knows how to construct well thought out work. I love the line:"Ravishing softness is subservient to shadows which eclipse and slaughter the soul's submissive sounds." The underlining message of letting in all hang out and freeing you "chaos" sometimes is original.
Great write.

there's a certain mature bitterness and acceptance in your words - this poem is so much more than what is seen on the surface...

would love to know what you were seeing when you wrote this. poems I think are like a lot of art by thier nature they invite us to take beauty and form it it into our own interpretations of its great and wonderful meaning but i truely love ones like this that make you desperatly want to see not the picture your mind makes but the writers

Subtly sensuous. I love how short the poem is, yet still has such punch! You are a master of words, my friend. Love and passion is a voracious beast with an insatiable hunger. Well met!
