My Euphoria

My Euphoria

A Poem by Jeremy Baker

My euphoria will be short lived

as I skirmish to maintain impetus

to eclipse the reasons I once possessed

to persist with living.

No longer can I galvanise justification

with extravagant claims of innocence or cause.

Pretexts for life may just mimic

Deepak Chopra’s mythical mantras,

but alas, I have no need of eccentric charlatans

whose ‘wisdom’ will meander through dirt-trodden

paths to oppressive falsehood and trickery.

Survival is my immediate concern -

not my body but soul; my spiritual demise is imminent.

My euphoria is almost over - just one

final step to oblivion and joyous annulment

of life and living.

Those seeking explanations may take a number,

and wait, and wait,

and go on waiting,

until tomorrow comes, if at all.

Life is worth living. Everyone has a purpose and would do to serve it well. Regardless of your spiritual proclivity, our hearts desire connection of some kind. Your writing always provides us with a thought, beckoning us to open our minds and invite you in.

Euphoria is a great way to try to define the alignment of existence with a joy in mind, heart and body - Waiting seems like the pleasurable tension building needed for orgasmic release

Great words, and I feel like this expresses something we all feel at one time or another but may not know how to say

This is a specific, intellectual piece, one which makes the reader think; about our purpose here on a planet, which, could have NEVER found itself populated with our species in the first place, but we ARE here. Now, we just have a desire to find why we're here. I love this piece, Jeremy, your word flow, and meaning is a gift to every type of thinking individual...wonderful work!

Stunning. You have hit on a point that I've made clear in many of my works: that there is no point to humankind, that the only point to our existence to exist and make up our own meaning as we go. Favorited.
