My Euphoria

My Euphoria

A Poem by Jeremy Baker

My euphoria will be short lived

as I skirmish to maintain impetus

to eclipse the reasons I once possessed

to persist with living.

No longer can I galvanise justification

with extravagant claims of innocence or cause.

Pretexts for life may just mimic

Deepak Chopra’s mythical mantras,

but alas, I have no need of eccentric charlatans

whose ‘wisdom’ will meander through dirt-trodden

paths to oppressive falsehood and trickery.

Survival is my immediate concern -

not my body but soul; my spiritual demise is imminent.

My euphoria is almost over - just one

final step to oblivion and joyous annulment

of life and living.

Those seeking explanations may take a number,

and wait, and wait,

and go on waiting,

until tomorrow comes, if at all.

It was a beautiful poem. You have a good vocabulary and a way of painting a beautiful picture in people's heads with your words. Good job

Jeremy you're writing my story for me. Survival of the soul sometimes it's the most difficult part of yourself to save. You give and give of yourself to the point at times where if you don't just withdraw, you may just end up an empty shell. This was very nicely penned.

Survival of the soul is very important. If our soul starts to feel lost/tired then it affects all areas of our life including our mind for it is over run with emotions.

I like it word use, and the phrasing.
Nicely done, and thank you for sharing this wonderful piece.
God bless you.

This is so poignant...we create our own reality, so to speak! To live in the moment, well, we can only try to do so...and if tomorrow does call, have we lived in euphoria? Have we addressed our spiritual sides? I have been thinking this of late...I have come to realise that some people address this all their lives and blimey...its a battle!
What if we waste our lives wondering and there is no afterlife? What a waste, but what if there is?!
I shall stop waffling but this is great poetry love and what is art for if not to make one think? lol
Great work!

Gosh, the confidence in the loss here is freakishly scary! leaving the world with a smile, entering the unknown so joyful.. you made me think that there was no purpose to life but just to live it, and perhaps that is true. we spend hours and years contemplating the unknown, when really, perhaps it isn't for us to contemplate, much less, understand. I liked this, it was eerily beautiful, in a class of its own.
