Glimpsing God

Glimpsing God

A Poem by Jeremy Baker

Glimpsing God behind the cusp

of a technicolour rainbow,

the colours left over from

our conversation, a one-sided

exchange which drew not blood

but disbelieving hope.

My red, dangerous desires,

my yellow fears,

burnt orange anger,

fresh green dreams and

deep, purple-blue tears,

tailed by the ultra violet promise of tomorrow,

all paraded before my eyes and soul

with indistinct understanding eluding

my outstretched heart, until

at last the colours dissolve and

disappear. And with it,

all potential, dreams and promises

shrink and escape into the ether.

But at least the sun is now shining.

Thank you Nazia!
I loved this poem Jeremy. I loved how you had a the colours interweaved throughout. It was a soul write, full of light, promise, and hope.

The colours dissolved in the end.....but a vision as you have seen never looses it's impact....the seeing of the sun is testament to that!

Top write my friend,

Kindest regards,

Helena

Isn't this a colorful write! I like how you give color to emotions... kind of like a "mood ring" of sorts.. those always used to intrigue me.. or how people talk of "auras" surrounding people with different colors representing their "spirit"... have read several interesting things on it... what exactly is "disbelieving hope"? is this not a contradiction of sorts?.. love the idea of "indistinct understanding eluding"... something about that phrasing tickles my intellect... what a way to end this.. silver lining in a darkened world of realities... those dreams, potential, and promises shrinking.... wait... come back... don't go.... who needs the sun shining if we don't have that understanding, that hope, those dreams, that motivation, those promises of tomorrow... it is just a well lit empty nothingness that illuminates and highlights the fact that life has no meaning... what a sad thought... jeez... for a colorful write, it sure darkens my heart...

This is really cool. Its penned much as a literary blur so it challenges you to keep up

How neat to use colors to help you describe this, I think I could really see/feel what you were trying to show. Amazing write, it's really inspiring.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts, I'm very flattered!
How you paint your emotions with such vivid expressions on your canvas... rich and deep and alive... and though there is still the searching soul, the sun has broken through the shadows... Brilliant...
