Tacit Endearment

Tacit Endearment

A Poem by JLily98

Clueless of each other's sentiment
Neither stood a chance
Racing minds of their assumed beloved
Careless of their potential circumstance

The 30th of March you laid eyes on me
Unknowingly, I laid eyes on you
Uncertain name and faint memory
Unclear face and defined silhouette

Five days passed
Our eyes officially met
Distracted by little talks
Nothing unnoticed
Your laugh, your voice
Our demeanor affixed to one another

Secretive glances I'd take
Familiarizing myself of your stares
Humorous, Flirtatious, Confused, Daydream, and...Me

His eyes spoke of curiosity when fixated on me
Curiosity made herself known
As Timid held him back

Then we spoke
No eye contact-just our voices
We agreed our eyes said too much
And trusted the words we spoke

Until October
Too revealing eyes
And fear of losing you
My mouth spilled too much...

"I'm falling in love with-"
"You."

Tacit endearment, I feel like most of us have been there? So hard to just admit to yourself what you really want or what's really there
