J.D. Vance

J.D. Vance

A Poem by John Sullivan
"

A love letter...

"
a fine fellow
failure
we'll say
what
we
must
one commandment
breaks all
the Law
and you're just
as
guilty
as
us
the devil has his
due
we all had a little
fun
I know
the conscience
comes
creeping
in
but we
were
all
s l u t s
once
the soul of
Man
our hearts
of
carbon
which of us
was
the worst?
W h o r e
or
Beast
our
21st Century
Babylon
you were
sick
with all this civilization
too
we both wondered
once
as to the
cut
of his
leg
but let's be
honest
the eyeliner
looks
better
on
you
sick
sacred
jaded
faded
but
the Law of the Lord
is
perfect
what was in
darkness
shall be brought
to
light
under the ashes
of our
flag
this
and
every
other
secret
You hate what you fear...

Understand and share the sentiment.
And while I am often told I have no dog in the hunt as it were, the sad fact is we all do, whether American or not. A grand experiment seems to be teetering on the brink of self-inflicted extinction, which is something we should all care about.

That said, the power of this poem would, I belive, be even more powerful John if not so nakedly fixed to a particular. In many ways we all share the foibles of Vance. Ok, not as nakedly self-serving, but certainly guilty of individual inconsistencies

Wow, well done you!
I like the path you took in writing this. Very interesting.

Interesting, so the spacing of W ho re was due to editing for content flagged. I like the sentiment here, drawing on the past as faulty but seeing a way for positive change in one's life.
