A Poem by John Sullivan
"

For William Blake

"
a day is promised
says a Book

prophet's path

a writhing worm
on
a
hook

cast a net
but stay and look

a mountain sings
there's a running brook

horses go mad
enter
the librarian's nook

a Sunflower Sutra

CIVILIZATION TOOK

flowers grow

and

flowers cry

you never stopped to wonder why

carry the stone

an exasperated sigh

crucified in my mind
with the lonely, bitter, and unkind

to live is to die

why rise and try?

a sacred story, there's only One to find

pride of Kings?

What is the pride of a King?

it's all of this

and every other thing

Multi layered and rich in its comments about so much. But controlled and viseral.

Thanks kindly Ken.
The dedication is an apt one. Blake was a mystic, one who dwelt in higher realms. He would agree that there is only One to find.

extremely thought provoking. pulls in different directions. flowers are delicate but show their true colors. pride has been the downfall of many a king. the whole speaks to me of maintaining a delicate balance in life and not living at extremes in any direction. i like it and enjoyed reading and thinking on it.

Seems a mix of worry and perceived vengeance. Life happens whether or not Man or other living things acts or is throughout life. Perhaps fate or higher decision controls the machinations of thought. Maybe?

What’s it all about? Makes me stop and ponder on many things John. A piece which sent me in many directions.

Wow this is so unique and interesting. I love how intelligent, yet light and understandable it is. The rhyming and format fits so well. I really really like this.
