Friends for LifeA Poem by JLMatthewsA poem for my best FriendFriends for Life I don’t expect forgiveness That’s not why I’m writing this I just wanted to tell you That I’m really starting to miss The way we used to be together The way we used to act “We’re best friends”-that was once An undisputed fact I miss the way you used to laugh At all my stupid jokes And the things we said that no one got All those silly games and random pokes I miss the way you made me smile When I was feeling sad You were the one to calm me down When I was getting mad I miss your sometimes brutal honesty And the way you made it kind I miss the way you always seemed to know What was on my crazy mind I miss the way you would never Care what anyone would say The way you’d stand up to anyone Without a moment’s delay I miss your notorious temper The way it was all fire and ice And the way you would always tell the truth Without thinking twice I miss the way we made no sense Any time you were around I miss the way you were so quiet And yet made the most sound But what I miss the most Is your greatness as a friend And I’m sorry that I ever Let our closeness end
