The TheaterA Story by JLGottschalkThis could be the beginning to something...
They sat in the darkened theater, waiting for the show to begin. The dim screen before them flickered to life and a horde of butterflies fluttered into view.
Instead of stopping at the screen -- as pictures in movies are wont to do -- they flittered right out, kept going, gliding soundlessly into the theater. There was nothing particularly menacing about them. Still, several people screamed from surprise. One woman even went so far as to wet her pants. The picture on the screen then shifted to reveal a field, bright and lush with flowers. A few more butterflies trickled into the theater. The screen then swung open and they could feel the warm spring breeze, the sun on their faces. The meadow beckoned. Some stood. Nearly all of the children were up and out of their seats, scrambling up to the newly opened portal before the adults could even think to stop them. © 2014 JLGottschalkAuthor's Note
