Change is about

A tribute to me graduating :P While I'm beyond happy to be over and done with it, I experience a lot of mixed feelings about it as well

I breathe with a heavy heart as I walk away from every comfort I know.

The comfort of my bed,

the comfort of a laugh,

the comfort of friends.

The comfort of knowing what's my own.

Change is about, whether I stand still or move.

So we take each others' hands and raise a a glass one last time,

before my back is turned and I embark on the unknown adventure ahead,

without the comforts of the life I've built.

Leaving behind the home I have made.

Looking ahead at thunderous clouds,

looking behind at clear skies.

Change is about, whether I want it or not.

The land around will rise and sink.

The land beyond will change with wind.

With memory in hand, I take a step,

the road runs forth, far ahead.

Another step, conviction without ease.

Change is about, whether I am ready or not.

This poem is honestly really well written. I personally loved the way you used the words and the contrasts in your poem. The part were you said," Looking ahead at thunderous clouds, looking behind at clear skies.", was absolutely my favourite part. You have a real talent and you should keep on writing from your heart. I know how it feels , all those memories (be it good or bad) , Laughs , fun time with friends . But we have to accept the change. Good luck for you and btw the poem is good . Nicely written.
