Autumn in Minnesota.

Autumn in Minnesota.

A Story by JKRyder
"

A description of autumn in my home state.

"

Our sun’s warm rays begin to withdraw and our fleeting Minnesota summer moves on

To children’s chagrin, schools once again begin, though the sound of their laughter deceives them

Football fantasies filled with the anticipation of triumph, faithful fan cheers can be heard

Any silence is broken as a crisp breeze rustles by, encouraging the leaves to transform

Hints of apple blossoms and spices are comforting and palatable in the air as I walk along

An earlier dusk brings the animals to life as they prepare themselves for the changes ahead

We bundle a bit tighter, huddle a bit closer around the fires at night under clear skies

Soon the chills will be bitter and the brightness of summer will dim with ominous clouds of white

But we are left with the embers of bright summer memories and promises the summer sun will return.

Author's Note

JKRyder
Another dip away from poetry and towards learning how to be descriptive and draw a reader's interest. How was this? Is it good practice for writing a story but what can I improve upon and where should I go next?
