Love LetterA Story by JKHughesThe character drunkenly writes a love letter to an ex-lover."You’re like a scene that plays over and over in my head, A series of images that somehow make sense. Not exactly romantic, nor a tragedy, A mistake of sorts that’s lingered in my soul. I wouldn’t say I cared an awful lot for you, you were on the cusp. Each passing touch was no more accidental than purposeful. No word was uttered from ignorance or premeditated, But yet you hold a spot in my heart. People say the heart is where we hold love. That’s bullshit. Love is held much deeper. I go over each word we said several times before I sleep. There were far too few, but far too many. Language intervened, when all I wanted to do was kiss you. To shut you up. There were far too few kisses. But too many phone calls in the middle of the night. I’d happily listen to your problems and your victories, the good with the bad. I never asked for much more, I guess I just wanted to be there for you." © 2014 JKHughesAuthor's Note
