Loving Life

Loving Life

A Poem by Jaejun Kwon

If I, had to compare you to a summer’s day

Then I, would say, that your beauty never fades away

I could describe your smile in a thousand and one ways

It’s as if you were molded by Hephaestus’s clay

And in my memories it will eternally stay

Preserved and praised like a Shakespearean play

Your very presence is a gift

Your essence can shift

Stubborn minds with moral lessons that’ll lift

The spirit and lessen the pain that drifts

In us mortals

And one day you’ll depart

Leave us with broken hearts

Since unlike you, we get older

Body decays as the world gets older

So just for today

Let us enjoy together the sun’s rays
