M and MA Story by JIMINSJAMSY/N was done relieing on her parents. She was going to prove that she can take care of herself. Her first step? To get a summer job but little did she know that she'd have to put up with so much more.I started the car engine. It was the first day of my summer job and I couldn't afford to be late. It paid too well. I looked at the GPS to make sure I was on the right road. It had been a year since I was back in my hometown and I had already forgotten so much of it. As the smell of the ocean reached me, I started to remember. Here was where the houses were small and practical. No, there was no waste of energy here. That is why I liked this town so much. That is also why I was surprised to get a job offer that promised such a pay. However, I needed money of my own to live off of during college and I was going to earn it myself. I refused to live off my parents any longer. I checked my GPS one last time as I reached my destination. I was greeted by a very large house. I guess this must be it. No time to be intimidated. I park my car in the drive and walked toward the house. It had 3 stories and 2, 5, 7....countless windows. I was unsure if I should knock, and as I was standing there, the door opened. "Hello, welcome to Mrs. Lastname's residence. My name is Forrest, how can I help you?" A tall guy asked. He seemed my age and was wearing leather and black jeans. "My name is Y/N. Today is my first day as a housekeeper." I responded. "Hey, join the group. We always need more help. You seem pretty fun." Forrest let me in and I was overwhelmed. As I looked at the room, luxury just screamed at me. Though the outside seemed bland and discreet, the inside is where the money went. The walls were a creamy yellow color with dark wood contrasting the edges. A lush carpet that seemed as soft as fur clung to the floor, leading up to a staircase that probably cost as much as my tuition. It had wide steps that got narrower as it went further up. The carpet material was the same as the floor only now it was a different color. It was a gradient pattern, starting with a similar color as the wood and getting lighter like the yellow. I walked toward the staircase and saw what looked like a living room beyond it. Forrest smiled. "Are you done?" I looked at him. "Huh?" "I think you should meet your employer. It's probably best not to keep her waiting." Forrest lead me into the living room. It was incredibly spacious, with a wall made of glass with each section captured by the same dark wood. "Wait here while I go get her," Forrest said as he left. I went straight to the windows. It was like looking at a kaleidoscope, yet this was much calmer thankfully. It was the ocean that I saw. As I stood there, I didn't hear Forrest return. Nor did I notice my employer. "It is quite a nice view isn't it?" A woman's voice asked. I faced her, smiling, "Yes, it is. It always amazes me just how relaxing it is." The woman smiled. She looked in her 40's. "Welcome, I am Elizabeth. I would like you to meet my son, Tristen." She turned her head, acknowledging a young man in velvet sweats and a Glitch headband. He looked at me with dark brown, almost black eyes. "Yo," He said. "You sure you should be working here? Dressed like that?" I look down. I had on red converse, skinny jeans, and a white top. Is this guy serious? I stare at him, trying to figure out why he would even imply something like that when Elizabeth spoke up. "Well, all the introductions are done it seems. Though, there is one last person you haven't met yet. She will be helping you out today. Aaliyah, please show Y/N around the house. Give her the rundown of what's expected." As Aaliyah approached me, Elizabeth and Tristen went up the staircase. Forrest left as well. Aaliyah was a tall girl with long dark hair. She had dark skin as well. Her face lit up. "I'm really excited you are going to join us. Don't worry, it's pretty laid back here. Mrs. Lastname doesn't even require us to wear a uniform." She took me down the corridor that was lined with books as high as the ceiling. "In front of us is the laundry room, you can hang the clothes on the line outside." We passed the entryway. "Here is the dining room, it's used mostly when Mrs. Lastname wants to show off." We kept going so I couldn't quite see. I felt quite overwhelmed when we got the kitchen. There had been a really long hallway, opposite the corridor that had the study and 2 sets of stairs. One led up to the attic and the other led down to the wine cellar. "This is the kitchen, we don't really have a cook, but Forrest makes the dinners occasionally. Most of the time Tristen and Mrs. Lastname tend to eat out." For a kitchen that was rarely used, it was spacious. It had pearl blue walls and really big windows. There was an island counter in the center of the room. "Our last stop is in this room," Aaliyah said pointing to the left. "It's the dining room that Mrs. Lastname uses when Cathy and Felix come over." It was far smaller than I'd imagined. The table was long enough to hold 6 people, 4 on the sides and 1 on each end. The room was all wood. There wasn't much else besides the table. "Our first job is to clean this room. There's a lot to do despite how small it is." Aaliyah smiled. "Don't worry, it'll be fun." © 2018 JIMINSJAMSAuthor's Note
