The Failure of Civil Rights

The Failure of Civil Rights

A Poem by Justin Guidroz
"

My beliefs on the civil rights movement.

"

It’s hard for me to try

and understand the past

when it comes to color.

Colorblind

is what I am.

Yet racism has not been eradicated,

perpetrated by the very crusades

who claim wanting to end it.

Contradictions

is what they are.

A King once had a pure dream

which has been butchered and delusioned,

misunderstood and mistreated.

The message of equality of all

mistaken for the equality of one.

If he was alive, he’d weep

when he saw his dream did not come true.

If you think I'm racist, you're wrong. Truly think about the message, and do you agree?

I've been hanging around this planet for a while now, and I definately think racism is alive and well in America. After foolishly thinking it might go away after the sixties, I can now see that it's as strong as ever and even uglier than before. I'm glad that your eyes see clearly and your words are true.
