The Perfume Returns
Justin Guidroz
Laying in my bed late at night,
my open window lets in the winter breeze.
And from a place far and out of sight
drifts in a scent, oh can it be?
As much as I deny, I think it might
be the perfume fro the past,
how did it find me, ah alas!
The lovely scent brings back the past,
of when I kissed her sweet lips last,
of her lingering spell her perfume has cast,
holding onto my heart fast!
Oh, free me from that long lost past!
Finally, I win the fight
and I am free from the perfume of she!
It drifts back into the frozen night,
where it will taunt with ease
until it is vanquished by the sun’s forgiving light.
