You can find my haiku under the Traditional Haiga section
of Haiga On-line - you will find there the original artwork for
which the haiku was written along with music composed to go
along with the haiga and Japanese translations of the haiku
(It is very beautiful when you see it all together.)

Interesting.. early frost and aging... synonymous in my line of work. and so many an early frost comes to those who do not care for their garden... I never knew much about Haiku, mysterious to me... but this works for me on many levels of interpretation... and it falls into an area of my deep knowledge, so i dont feel left out of it reading... i like this short impacting style... kinda makes you just deal with a subject matter very matter of fact... nice Joyce!

The brevity of haiku and tanka leaves lots of "dreaming room" for the reader to co-write the poem with the poet. Much is left to the particular experience and imagination of the reader - the poet shows and should not tell the reader what to think. I appreciate your contributing your intimate knowledge of the subject. I appreciate your review very much.
This is wonderful. It speaks of aging, the stiffness of the season of winter and always the ultimate renewal. We must just be patient. It is good to see you.

Thanks for your very kind review. I'm afraid my job and commute have taken over my life and there's been little time for the finer sides of life such as poetry. Once in a while a tanka spills out and that's about all. Glad to see you're still writing - I'm going to drop by your page and enjoy your words again. Have a very Happy Thanksgiving! (I'm taking one of my very few real vacation days today and trying to put work aside.)

Happy Thanksgiving to you too. Just know you have been missed.

If I had more time and enery, I'd definitely be around more. I miss you, Blue.
This made me smile. I've got those creaky knees, too. (Oh, and some frost) Especially, I thought of the elderly fellow down the road who tends his garden on a walker.

I've been taking a break from poetry for a while. Hope to get back into the swim again soon. Too much else to do lately.
I love the brevity of this form, and depicting it with illustration gives a striking impact. It's truly beautiful...thank you for such a lovely offering, Joyce.
You've given me the incentive to check it out on-line. ; )
:) it has been a 'real winter' in the USA this time around :)

This winter the cold is really bothering me, and I haven't been reading or writing as much as I'd like so I'm hoping this spring will bring new inspiration with its warmth. Stay warm and be happy!
Joyce, I have many gardens and two loudly creaking knees and I know exactly what you mean. This is a beautiful little piece my friend.

This has been a horribly cold winter so far, and for the first time I am experiencing the aching bones that my mother always complained about. Not a good thing at all. I hope you are staying warm.
I feel the cold in my bones too. I know when it will rain or the day is cold. A nice poem for the season of Winter. I need the days of Spring to come. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
