The Christmas Star of Love and Peace

The Christmas Star of Love and Peace

A Poem by Joyce S. Greene
"

In God’s great garden grows a tree . . .

"

In God’s great garden grows a tree

green and glorious as can be

On Christmas Day He smiles on earth

to celebrate His one Son’s birth

God trims with care this tree He loves

and showers gifts from high above.

He strings the lights from children’s eyes

from branch to branch up to the skies

Next God adds laughter of the young

and songs of faith in many tongues

He tenderly then sprinkles dreams

of lovers dancing while He beams.

God calls to angels standing guard

in soft white garments brightly starred

who watch each little girl and boy

while shedding tears of silver joy

which fall upon the shining tree

and shimmer brightly, He can see.

God’s very pleased with what He’s done

with one last touch He gives His Son

A gift of grace that will not cease

the Christmas Star of love and peace.

Joyce This is gloriously amazing! I'm so jealous that Ms Rita beat me to be the first one to read it. Every line here is rich with wisdom and love. Every line here I want. The rhythm really flows with 8 syllables count each line. And you nailed it brilliantly well with the last two lines. You surpassed your piece Dragonfly with this composition.
" A gift of grace that will not cease
the Christmas Star of love and peace."
What a precious gift and a tribute to our gracious and loving Savior and Lord.

Thank you, Lola. I appreciate your very gracious review a lot.
Your imagery is soft and peaceful. The spirituality sparkles. While I do not celebrate Christmas or believe G-d's son was born on Christmas day, this was beautifully written. Lydi**

This is a beautiful poem, with dramatic flare, timing, rhythm, and word usage. Whether one is religious or not, this is an ode to the heritage and tradition of Christmas, and all that it stands for.

Agree with Rita that the second stanza captured the feeling of Christmas--how we see it through young children
