Very cool Joyce and I could picture this vividly in my mind. How cute. Happy Halloween.

Excellent poem with fine rhymes and a very rhythmic cadence. The first two stanzas in particular have a splendid rhythmic beat. I enjoyed this very much.

The nostalgia in this touched me. Trick or treating with your Dad....feeling so safe and happy to be getting treats. Then seeing another witch....were you horrified because she looked so creepy or because she was dressed like you? To me, that injected humor into this write. Very cute Halloween tale, Joyce. Lydi**

I wasn't even aware that I looked just like her and vice versa, I was just scared to death of her! It really was a gruesome mask, I saw it later in my childhood and it was truly bad!
Same dress; same party; now that's a horror story. Great one, Joyce.

I never thought of that angle before another poet also mentioned it, but it does work. The real story was that I was scared to death of the other witch and it never occurred to me that I looked just like her, and vice versa, of course. Thanks for reading my poem and letting me know your thoughts.
Awww poor your Joyce! I loved the poem though. It was such fun to read, but there's nothing worse than someone else having the same costume I am sue. Halloween has never taken off greatly in Oz, although more get into it than in my childhood....never heard of then lol
Love the imagery, flow and rhyme of this. made me smile.

Haha, love that ending, so typical for a four year old, I can picture it now. Halloween can be fun and also a scary time for kids that young, I often see it happen at the school, many of them scared out of their wits, not to mention hopped up on candy. Fun read Joyce.

Oh, I can see this scene so clearly, Joyce - you, a little witchlet, staring up at a scarier version - of course, as an adult the incident would be horrifying in a different way - someone dressed in the same costume; oh, the horror! This is a sweet write of Halloween through a young child's eyes.

So cute...I'm trying to remember Halloween through the eyes of a child....
I can only recall a favorite book, I can remember the pictures. I read it every October...year after year. It will drive me bat crazy if I can't remember the name of that book. lol

I was forbidden to read "Bluebeard" as a child, and, of course, I did anyways and was sorry I did! I appreciate your leaving your thoughts behind, it means a lot to me.
