I recently learned of a new poetry genre - one word poems, and was inspired to write this one for my friend, Lydi, by the beauty of the many butterflies I had the privilege of seeing at the Butterfly Conservatory in Deerfield, MA. Lydi is a big fan of butterflies if you didn't already know.

Sometimes simplicity is the best thing. I think the trick to this "genre" is to find an image or subject and then relate a word back to it, and you have done that.

What a very nice thing to say, Jack. Your review has made my night!
Lydi must be incredibly touched by this.
Beautiful photo too - your husband has some rad skills with the camera.

I love how the butterfly looks poised and ready to take off... and it'll do just that but in a genteel and almost whimsical way. So lovely.
