What's Happened to my Muse?

What's Happened to my Muse?

A Poem by Joyce S. Greene
"

"Only the Shadow knows for sure" . . .

"

All alone, I wonder

what's happened to my Muse

Has he left me for another

or gone on a two week cruise

I admit my poetry

doesn't sing with passion

My words are never stylish,

nouveau nor in fashion

Did he finally conclude

I'm just too plain and boring

Was he dreaming of a poet

more sexy and alluring

Has he found the one

who really turns him on

A mermaid or a siren

who never makes him yawn

I can only pray my Muse

hasn't fallen beneath a tire,

under the wicked witch's spell

or become a Trump new hire

Does anyone have a clue

if my Muse has lost his life

Did anyone see Miss Scarlet

in the Billiards Room with the knife?

This was a hilarious take on the feeling losing your inspiration. I laughed all the way through it. Thanks for sharing this lovely poem.

haha Love those last two, lines Joyce. Reminds me of the game of Cluedo and maybe they were a reference to it!
As for that damn muse he/she comes and goes at its own will and teases and taunts when in that nasty, silent zone.
Maybe that muse is sulking because it has nothing to offer YOU right now. Best thing is to keep writing(even just a stream of conscious thoughts). It will return when it knows you are trying without it! Yet seriously I can relate to your thoughts so well as many others will. It's a depressing time if you love writing, but this here poem expresses those feelings well, so not all is lost with your muse yet.
Hang in there and keep spilling that ink!
