Please don't think that I say this lightly or in jest; but this is, hands down, the absolute best poem that I have EVER read regarding a mother's feelings toward her miscarried child. Each word, each line glimmered like the sun bursting forth on a rainy day. You captured the sadness; but overwhelmingly, you captured the love that, captured for a moment, can outshine a thousand lifetimes of sadness.
I don't doubt for a moment that this really happened to you, as the words are from your heart. I can feel the heartbeat and the pulse of life within.
A dear friend of mine just suffered the same loss. I am so sorry for yours, but I have so say that she left such a memorable touch on your heart that it gave life to a beautiful, beautiful poem.

Oh Joyce this is so sad and so very touching. The manner in which you have dealt with this is amazing. For all those who have miscarried or lost a child very early in life, this is a must read.
You weave your words so delicately and with such style and elegance.
Love this!

It's impossible to not be touched by the tenderness within and between the lines. I listened to a sermon many years ago likening death to a butterfly emerging from a cocoon to a bright sunny day. I never forgot how comforting those words were as many listening pondered the other side.

Joyce, this was beautiful. So sad in a way and I imagine what this piece may be alluding to, though I know the feelings you are portraying will touch many in many different ways. Loved this.

I think your reading of my poem is close to my reading of it, but, yes, when you write a poem your give its meaning over to the reader so there is really no wrong interpretation - a large part of the beauty of poetry.
dear Joyce... the beauty of a life within you
is delicately penned...
"golden sunlight dancing on a daisy".
"I dream her smiles and hear her laughter..".
I was fortunate to have my son and daughter.
Butterfly Wings is a lovely way to express
the eternal rhapsody of a child. truly.. Patricia

Penned to perfection desires allayed without regret. Yet still burns a ember dreaming to burst into flame. With such classy style Joyce, fill the daylight with you dream.
