Please don't think that I say this lightly or in jest; but this is, hands down, the absolute best poem that I have EVER read regarding a mother's feelings toward her miscarried child. Each word, each line glimmered like the sun bursting forth on a rainy day. You captured the sadness; but overwhelmingly, you captured the love that, captured for a moment, can outshine a thousand lifetimes of sadness.
I don't doubt for a moment that this really happened to you, as the words are from your heart. I can feel the heartbeat and the pulse of life within.
A dear friend of mine just suffered the same loss. I am so sorry for yours, but I have so say that she left such a memorable touch on your heart that it gave life to a beautiful, beautiful poem.

It is such a blessing that this poem showed up for me again. Eight years later, and I have never forgotten it. When I read it the first time, it breathed itself upon my skin and has stayed with me ever since. I had a co-worker that suffered a miscarriage and immediately thought of this poem. You didn't write this poem. You bled it, pouring your lifeforce into words. It truly resonates and stays with you. Thanks again.
This is exquisite! The way you capture loss and love and sadness all at once is perfection. I can't wait to read more of your poems and hope you don't mind that I add you as a friend.
I just love that this poem showed up in "related writing" for me again. While it has shown up and I have read it more times than I can count, I just have to say, it's always a pleasure. This is just a beautiful homage to the child you still hold within your heart.
Such a pristine emotion captured with such soothing, assuring elan. I liked reading it very much.
A mother's bond to her child is pure and with such unadulterated affection. The adjoining image suits the verse instead of bringing it down.
How sad...yet, what a great memorial to a spirit you did not have a chance to meet. I have a feeling you will recognize each other in heaven when your time comes. She will be waiting for you, your butterfly girl. How sweetly sentimental

It is the story his four year old recounted after he died for short amount of time in the ICU when he was 3. I highly recommend it. It is a great read and supposedly a true account.
This was lovely graceful
